… a little bit of this, that and a lot more

Hallo peeps, hope you had a lekker weekend. I did too. I tried spitting Blue Monday in the eye. It spat back. Just hope it improves. Here’s a serious start to the week, something that gets my gander up every time…

********************

So apparently Pinky Khoabane (ST columnist) wrote about the IPL babes – I didn’t read her piece myself – but one reader quoted her as saying “Women in cricket are fine, but not if they’re naked”. From the other women’s responses, they agreed with Pinky. Apparently, the IPL got the nekkid (nekkid?!) dancing babes to draw support for the game.

Fokkit, were they (the girls) playing cricket or were they entertaining the masses? Was it them or the cricket that was drawing the crowds? One woman seemed to think it was the half-nekkid babes who drew the crowd. Phew. Really???!!!!

That guy wrote that none of these babes were forced to dance half-nekkid in front of the masses. Masses including men, women and children. I agree with this guy. All the women who commented seemed to agree with Pinky. That disappoints me.

These women were not forced to do this. They did it by choice. For whatever reason, i.e. pay the bills, or just because they love gyrating their gorjuss arses in front of thousands of people. It’s the same as any other job – there’s a position available, it has specific criteria i.e. must be sexy, must have boobs, must can dance and gyrate your booty. They applied, were interviewed, performed little test gyrations probably, and got the job.

It’s a fucking JOB. One that can be filled (or not) by many women out there who have this talent. Just like any other JOB, not all of us are qualified to do this kinda job. So what is the bloody problem?

So the women who agreed with Pinky – do they have a problem with all women being viewed / used as so called “sex objects”? Do they also not like being viewed as sex objects? Does that mean they don’t want their men to view them as such either? Ooo-kay then.

WTF do you see every time you buy a bloody Cosmo or Marie Claire or whatever women’s mag you read. Women on the cover, dressed in skimpy outfits?! Inside you will find women in various states of undress promoting anything from make up, and bust-firming creams to jeans. Do these women who are so vociferously objecting to the dancing girls’ exhibitionism have a problem with the mags too? So I assume these women don’t buy Cosmo etc seeing that these nekkid women upset them? Or do they? Wake up, man (or women). Sex sells, or so I’ve heard. So why not use it to our advantage?

What does it say about any woman who still has a problem with this? Are they jealous? Would they rather be on that podium dancing like that themselves? Are they insecure? Not? So what’s the problem then?

And don’t criticise the IPL on my behalf, thank you, I can take care of business myself. So can many other woman out there. We aren’t helpless hicks who can’t take care or ourselves.

Those girls CHOSE to apply for these jobs. So too can they choose not to be strippers and IPL go-go girls. Get it …CHOICE???!!!!

And yes, it is wrong if women are being objectified against their will. I didn’t see anyone being forced to do this? Did you? To me it rather seemed like these women enjoyed it. They wanted to be there…..So, come on, grow up please!!! Stop making a bloody issue about something that isn’t really an issue!!!

Women who are secure in their identities and their ability don’t care about this crap. I certainly don’t. I say “Good for you, we can’t all dance like that. We can’t all look like that either”. So go dancing girls, go!!! Go FHM Girls, go Cosmo Girls!!! Good on YOU!!

For making YOUR career choice and for going out there and getting what you want.

Lastly, yes, women are portrayed as decent and innocent in India. But, these commentors are baically saying that our own Souf Efrican dancing girls weren’t being portrayed as decent and innocent.

I dunno hey, were they being portrayed as skanky? Or is it your (points at those commentators) view of them that you are forcing on everyone else? Siesa, man! What does that say about you? You judge them just because of the way they dress (which is part of the job) and dance? Would you like to be judged this harshly just because of your job? So if you are a CEO, and you are a hard assed and firm manager, but your employees calls you a bitch, I guess you wouldn’t mind would you? You would? Thought so.

I hope these whingers are also focussing their effort and attention on real problems, like abuse of our children and women. Now that‘s something worth their attention. Not this crap.

I feel slightly better. Have a super day

xxx

It’s got to be a jealousy thing!! Like you said – no one was forced to do anything so actually it’s nobody else’s business. If you don’t approve, don’t watch…clearly the disapporvers were in the minority because the IPL was a major success!!Have a good one Diz 🙂

If I had had the figure etc I wouldn’t have minded standing and dancing at sporting events when I was younger. Anyway they don’t cover up that much in Bollywood movies.

Loud and energetic applause! There are any number of men – sportsmen, movie stars or pop idols – who owe most of their considerable income to being sex objects. So what? Should they feel ‘cheapened’ thereby? All the Mother Grundys who belong in the Victorian era should stay home and put covers on the table legs to protect their delicate morals.
