… a little bit of this, that and a lot more

It is my niece’s birthday today. As is the norm, I awoke with many thoughts of what to say to her today. What I want her to know, what I think she needs to know at this point. She is going through a very trying time. Things that no fifteen year old should be going through. Adults can be such idiots sometimes.

For Dilla

Fifteen today
How time has flown
You are on the cusp of life
Not a woman,
But not a girl anymore

You are beautiful
And you have a heart of gold
A tough cookie

This is what you need
To survive in this world
Stay strong
Keep your eye on the ball

What do you want from this life?
Who do you want to be?

Look in the mirror
See the potential
See what you are
See who you can be

Remind yourself of this
Every day
Whenever you are down
Whenever you feel like no one
Understands or cares

You will get through
The difficult times
With the help of
Those who love you
Whom you trust

Don’t think you are alone
You are never alone
Though man will fail you
God never will
Even if you seem alone
He is there
Helping you over the obstacles

Life isn’t easy
You need to focus on what you want
On what is right
Sidestep the wrong
No one needs to tell you
The difference anymore
You know, deep in your heart

Always believe and trust
In yourself and you abilities
Don’t let anyone side track you
From your goals

When you do stumble
Get up and face it head on
Confront it
With the spunk I know you have

Don’t be shy
Don’t be scared

Be you
Be all you can be

And whenever you need
I will be here
For you

All my love, until the end of days
